The Iljusin IL - 2 Stormovik was a single engine ground attack aircraft produced by the U.S.S.R. in large numbers during World War II.  It was a prominent dive bombing aircraft utilized for attacking tanks and was used to great effect during the epic World War II Battle of Kursk.  A total of over 36,000 of the IL - 2s and its successor the IL - 10 were produced during their combined produciton run.  This two place aircraft (pilot and rear gunner) had the following operation characteristics: 1) Top speed of just under 260 m.p.h.; 2) Combat range of 450 miles and 3) Service ceiling of just over 18,000.  It carried the following armament: 1) Two forward firing 23 mm cannons; 2) Two forward firing 7.62 mm machine guns; 3) One manually operated 12.7 machine gun in he rear cockpit and 4) Up to approximately 1,300 lbs of bombs or rockets.  This older IL - 2 dive bomber model is molded in off-white plastic and includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for an Il-2 operated by the U.S.S.R. during World War II and for a B-31 aircraft operated by the Czechoslovakian Air Force aircraft flown post war in 1947; 2) Basic cockpit; 3) Clear plastic canopy; 4) One rearward firing machine gun; 5) Recessed panel lines; 6) Two bombs; 7) Paint guide and 8) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The model package is in good condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
