This postcard depicts the opulent interior of a dining car attached to the Portland Rose which at the time was the only train providing service between Chicago, Illinois and Portland, Oregon.  This dining car scene includes intricate detail including ornate furnishings, fine china, linens and passenger clothing.  The legend on the back reads: "Dining cars on The Portland Rose provide the best obtainable in food, service and harmonious surroundings". The text and logo on the back of this postcard indicates that it was a souvenir available through the Union Pacific Railroad.  It is identified as number 1A95.  This postcard contains no writing, is free of noticeable stains or marks and is in overall excellent condition with only a trace of wear on the four corners.
