Island In The Sky is a little-seen film gem that follows former World War II pilot Captain Dooley as his transport plane gets lost, runs out of fuel and crash lands in the icy  tundras of the Canadian Artic.  It isn't long before Dooley and his surviving crew  members run low on food and combat below-zero temperatures as they face the impossible odds of being rescued.  Their primitive radio equipment and low battery power makes the chance of being heard and ultimately resqued even more unlikely. This films cinematography perfectly captures the vast expanses of the snow-covered  bleakness in "crisp" black and white photography that virtually gleams in this lovingly restored and remastered edition of the Island In The Sky.  Starring Johm Wayne, Sean McClory and Lloyd Nolan among others.  Fullscreen in black and white.   Released in 1953.  Runtime 109 minutes.
