The movie, Krakatoa East of Java, centers on a merchant Captain Chris Hanson who leads a team of treasure hunters as they brave the waters near a string of volcanoes to recoever a fotune in pearls reputed to be in a sunken ship named the Arianna.  The captain has recruited an over-the-hill deap sea diver, a claustrophobic inventer and a group of beautiful Polynesian pearl divers in order to punder the sunken ship.  The group seem on a doomed mission when at the last minute, the captain is ordered to transport a group of 30 convicts to a nearby island.  As they sail toward the treasure, this intrepid team encounters strange lights on the horizon, unusual sounds from the darkness, intense heat and thousands of deadfish on the ocean's surface.  Are these signs bad omens or just freaks of nature?  The viewer will have to watch this movie to find out what how this story ends.  This movie provides fun an excitement that the whole family can enjoy.  Starring Maximilian Schell, Diane Baker and Brian Keith among others.  Widescreen in color.  Released in 1969.  Runtime 127 minutes.
