This postcard depicts Lambert Field, St. Louis Municipal Airport which at the time was located six miles from city on Natural Ridge Road. The postcard shows the airport as it would be seen from the air. It shows nine hangers and a terminal against the lush green background of a rural setting. The legend on the back of this postcard reads: " Named in honor of Major Albert Bond Lambert, who created and maintained the field for public benefit from 1920 to 1928. Area, 546 acres. The six-point hard-surface runway system, extending over 3,000 feet in each direction, is level with the field and can be crossed. A concrete mat or apron, 2,500 feet long and 200 feet wide, serves the hangers of the air mail and passenger lines, flying schools, passenger depots, weather bureau, restaurant and executive buildings. The radio range station is located on the southeast corner of the field about 800 feet outside the white boundary lights". While this postcard contains three lines of writing on the back, it appears to have never been mailed. It is identified as 29041. It is free of noticeable stains or marks and is in overall good condition with wear evident on all four corners.
