The book, Log Of The Liberators, chronicles the operational history of the four-engine Consolidated B-24 Liberator heavy bomber flown during World War II.  While less well known than the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, the B-24 arguably played an even greater role in the Allied Victory in World War II.  B-24s were built in greater numbers than the B-17 Flying Fortress and were also used in every combat theater during the war.  From the many Ploesti bombing raids to missions over the crumbling defenses of the Japanese Home Islands, from the arid deserts of Africa to the wide expanse of the Pacific Ocean, B-24 bombers seemed to be everywhere there was a fight between the Allies and the Axis forces during World War II.  In addition to the United States Army Air Corps and the United States Navy, B-24 Liberators & Privateers were flown by the air forces of Australia, Canada, China, Czechoslovakia, England, France, Holland and South Africa during World War II.  B-24 Liberators and the Navy equivalents, the Privateers, flew combat missions during the entire duration of the war, which earned them a place in aviation history.  "Log Of The Liberators" pays tribute to the men who flew the B-24s, as well as, to the many contributions of the millions of men and women who were involved in building and maintaining the Liberators throughout their storied career.  The major sections of "Log Of The Liberator" are as follows: 1) Foreword; 2) Chapter I Blood And Sand; 3) Chapter II That Was the Liberators; 4) Chapter III Around the Clock; 5) Chapter IV War at the End of the World; 6) Chapter V Cactus to Kyushu; 7) Chapter VI Over the Hump; 8) Chapter VII Down Under; 9) Chapter VIII Air War: Italian Style; 10) Chapter IX Pacific Tramps and 11) Appendix - Liberator Production.  In addition to an informative narrative, "Log Of The Liberator" includes the following features: 1) Over 250 black and white combat photographs and 2) Four pages of full-color paintings illustrating B-24's in combat markings and camouflage, as well as, the different units that manned them.  This book is 340 pages and is in good condition.  The author is Steve Birdsall with John Preston (color illustrations).  Edition published in 1973.
