The movie, Lone Star, is essentially a multi-generational murder mystery set against the back drop of a small Texas border town.  The plot focuses on a modern day sheriff and town citizens who are candid with thier memories surrounding the death of a previous crooked sheriff many years earlier.  The question of what happend to the previous sheriff is sparked by several treasure hunters who, with thier metal detectors, discover the badge and human remains of what is thought to be the crooked sheriff in the desert outside of town.  The story then moves back and forth between the present and the past all the while revealing the underlying racial tensions that have shaped the history of this town.  In the end, this movie represents a generation-gap story of parents and children, lost loves and the racial kaleidoscope of shifting white, African-American, Hispanic and Native-American viewpoints all surrounding the question of what really happened to the crooked sheriff.  This movie is sure to appeal to anyone interested in murder mysteries or western themed films.  Starring Kris Kristofferson, Matthew McConaughey and Chis Cooper among others.  Full screen in color.  Released in 1996.  Runtime 135 minutes.
