The movie, Lust For Life, is the story of the tormented life of the famed painter, Vincent Van Gogh. A failure as an evangelist and a loser in the game of love, Van Gough turns to painting. His brother Theo encourages him and the excitment of the art movement in late 19th Century Paris spurs his efforts. The story also shows Van Gogh's stormy friendship with fellow painter Paul Gauguin. In the end, Van Gogh's genius is marred by epilepsy and madness which frequently send him out of control. A true irony is that Van Gogh's paintings were never worth much when he was alive but now routinely sell for millions a painting. Starring Kirk Douglas, Anthony Quinn and James Donald among others. Full screen in color. Released in 1956. Runtime 123 minutes.
