The 155 mm Gun Motor Carriage M40 was a U.S. self-propelled artillery vehicle essentially built on a widened and lengthened M4A3 Medium Tank chasis propelled by a Continental engine.  Equipped with a 155 mm M2 gun, it was designed to replace the earlier M12 Gun Motor Carriage.  While the M 40 was field tested in the European theater late in the war, it was first used in combat during the Korean War.  This older, out-of-production model of the M 40 is an all plastic, easy assembly kit that includes instructions and authentic markings.  The model box is in excellent condition with two small pieces of old tap on the sides of the box.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
