The book, M551 Sheridan In Action (2041 - Color Series), represents a concise but authoritative pictorial study of the M551 Sheridan built by the Allison Division of General Motors.  Approximately 1,562 M551s were built with primary armament being a 152-millimeter gun / launcher capable of firing conventional ammunition, as well as, the "Ford-built Shillelagh anti-tank missile".  The Sheridan served with the United States Army for over 3 decades and while conceived as a light Armored Reconnaissance / Airborne Assault Vehicle was often referred to as a tank.  Whatever a person's viewpoint, the M551 Sheridan proved an asset to the United States Army in the Vietnam War, the Panama invasion in 1989 and Operation Desert Storm in 1991.  The M551 Sheridan carried a crew of four and was powered by a reliable 6-cylinder Detroit Diesel engine.  Although retired from active service, the M551 Sheridan has yet to be replaced by a more suitable military asset.  In addition to an informative narrative and picture captions, "M551 Sheridan In Action (2041 - Color Series)" includes the following features: 1) 9 black and white photographs; 2) Approximately 92 color photographs; 3) About 13 black and white illustrations; 4) 8 color illustrations; 5) 1 M551 Sheridan 5-way MERDC camouflage color illustration; 6) 1 M551 A1 Sheridan 5-way NATO camouflage color illustration and 7) 1 M551 Sheridan 4-way black and white illustration with specifications.  This book is 60 pages and is in new condition.  The author is David Doyle with Don Greer (colorist) and Matheu Spraggins (line illustrations).  Edition published in 2008.
