The development of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 followed a familiar pattern with other German Luftwaffe aircraft of the period in that the prototype was nominally civillian, it was used to break various aviation records, early military versions were tested in the Spainish Civil War and refinements were incorporated into a number of subsequent variants throughout World War II. The book, Me 109 Messerschmitt BF 109 E (Aeroguide Classics Number 2), is a pictorial study with some narrative of the E or "Emil" variant which was introduced into frontline service just in time for the opening stages of World War II. It was the most widely available variant of the BF 109 during the Battle Of Britain but was eventually phased out in favor of the F variant which came out in 1941. Included in this book are the following: 1) 1 color aircraft profile; 2) 74 black and white photographs; 3) 5 line drawings; 4) 3 pages of camouflage drawings and 5) 1 full aircraft "cut-away" illustration. This book is 32 pages and is in excellent condition. The author is Ray Rimell with Steve Archibald (color profile), Arthur Bentley (cut-away drawing) and Mike Keep (text illustrations and drawings). Edition published in 1986.
