The book, Markings Of The Aces: Part 1. 8th U.S. Air Force describes in detail a selection of aircraft as flown by the leading American aces of the 8th United States Army Air Force (U.S.A.A.F.).  The aircraft highlighted in "Markings Of The Aces: Part 1. 8th U.S. Air Force" have been selected to illustrate the "mount" of at least one ace from each of the fighter groups in the 8th U.S.A.A.F. including two of the top aces from the often forgotten 479th Fighter Group.  The focus of "Markings Of The Aces: Part 1. 8th U.S. Air Force" is on Republic P-47 Ds and North American P-51 Ds since only four groups of the 8th Air Force flew Lockheed P-38 Lightnings and then only for short periods of time.  Within this book are shown in authentic World War II era markings about thirty airplanes each of which was flown by a recognized ace pilot.  In addition to a concise but informative narrative, "Markings Of The Aces: Part 1. 8th U.S. Air Force" includes the following features: 1) Approximately 29 black and white photographs; 2) 1 two-view black and white illustration of a P-51 D Mustang flown by LT Col. John D. Landers (14.5 victories), 83rd Squadron, 78th Fighter Group; 3) 1 two-view black and white illustration of a P-47 D Thunderbolt flown by Maj. Steve Pisanos (7 victories), 334th Squadron, 4th Fighter Group; 4) 1 two-view black and white illustration of a P-51 D Mustang flown by Maj. Pierce McKennon (12 victories) , 335th Squadron, 4th fighter; 5) 1 two-view black and white illustration of a P-47 D Thunderbolt flown by Maj. Michael Jackson (8 victories), 62nd Squadron, 56th Fighter Group; 6) 1 two-view black and white illustration of a P-51 D-5 Mustang flown by Arval J. Roberson (6 victories), 362nd Squadron, 357th Fighter Group; 7) 1 two-view black and white illustration of a P-51 D Mustang flown by Maj. Bert W. Marshall Jr. (7 victories), 354th Squadron, 355th Fighter Group; 8) 1 two-view black and white illustration of a P-51 D Mustang flown by LT. Col. Gail E. Jacobsen (4.5 victories), 334th Squadron, 479th Fighter Group; 9) 1 two-view black and white illustration of a P-47 D Thunderbolt flown by LT. Frank W. Klibbe (16.25 victories); 10) 1 two-view black and white illustration of a P-51 D Mustang flown by Maj. Clarence E. Anderson (6 victories), 362nd Squadron, 357th Fighter Group; 11) 1 two-view black and white illustration of a P-51 D Mustang flown by LT. Col. Donald A. Baccus (5 victories), 368th Squadron, 359th Fighter Group and 12) 2 pages titled "Representative Marking Schemes Of The Eighth Air Force" (8 black and white side aircraft profile illustrations).  This book is 28 pages and is in very good condition.  The author is Theodore R.
