The Martin PBM-5 Mariner was a twin-engine flying boat operated by the United States Coast Guard and Navy as a maritime patrol bomber and search & rescue aircraft.  Introduced in 1940, PBM-5 Mariners were often used in conjunction with the more famous PBY flying boats during World War II.  Following the outbreak of World War II, PBMs were also used highly successfully as anti-submarine attack aircraft, sinking wholly or partially, at least 10 German U-boats.  Following the end of World War II, PBM-5 Mariners continued to be used flying long-range patrol missions during the Korean War.  The last PBM-5 Mariner flying boats were retired in 1956 and were subsequently replaced by the Martin P5M Marlin.  This Martin PBM-5 Mariner (Limited Re-issue) scaled model was made using the original molds employed by Revell some 40 years ago and includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a PBM-5 Mariner as operated by the United States Navy during World War II; 2) Clear plastic cockpit and fuselage "glass" areas; 3) Display stand; 4) Movable gun turrets; 5) Recessed panel lines; 6) Rotating propellers; 7) Separate doors and 8) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in new condition.  Never started and factory sealed.
