The Messerschmitt Me 262 represented the world's first operational jet aircraft and was used by the German Luftwaffe in the latter stages of World War II.  The fighter version, Model 1a was introduced in October, 1944 while the fighter bomber version, model 2a followed later in 1944.  The Me 262 was powered by two Junkers Jumo 004B-1 jet engines and could reach speeds of 541 m.p.h..  The Me 262 1a variant was armed with four 30 mm Mk 108 cannon while the 2a variant carried only two 30 mm Mk 108 cannon along with either two 551, two 1,102  or one 2,205 pound bombs respectively.  The Me 262 was about 34.8 feet in length and had a wingspan of approximately 41 feet.  This detailed Me 262 A model is molded in medium gray plastic and includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a Me 262 A as flown by the German Luftwaffe late in World War II; 2) Clear three piece plastic canopy; 3) Detailed engines; 4) Recessed panel lines; 5) Seated pilot figure; 6) Two bombs; 7) Painting guide and 8) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in like-new condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
