The Messerschmitt Me 262 represented the world's first operational jet aircraft and was used by the German Luftwaffe in the latter stages of World War II.  The Me 262 jet fighter was powered by two Junkers Jumo 004B-1 jet engines and could reach speeds of 541 m.p.h..  The Me-262 fighter variants were armed with four 30 mm Mk 108 cannons.  The Me-262 was about 34.8 feet in length and had a wingspan of approximately 41 feet.  The 2-seat trainer and radar equipped fighter variants, Models B-1a and B-1a/U1 respectively were introduced late in the war and are the subject of this scaled model.  This Messerschmitt Me 262 B-1a model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for two Luftwaffe aircraft; A) Me 262 B-1a, WNr 170075, 1./KG(J)54 or B) Me 262 B-1a/U1, WNr 110306, 10./NJG11; 2) Basic cockpit; 3) Drop tanks; 4) Includes stencils, instrument panels and cockpit console faces; 5) Optional parts to build either a B-1a or B-1a/U1 including FuG 218 Neptun radar aerials; 6) Recessed panel lines; 7) Segmented clear plastic canopy; 8) Two seated aircrew figures; 9) Painting guide and 10) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in new condition.  Never started and factory sealed.
