The MiL Mi-24 is a large, twin turbine Russian helicopter gunship and troop transport that was designed and produced by the Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant. The Mi-24 was initially flown late in 1969 and was subsequently deployed beginning in 1972. While the Mi-24 was forever made famous for the attack helicopter role it played during the former Soviet Union’s military intervention in Afghanistan (1979 – 1989) it has also been used in dozens of other “hot spots” around the world. Since its initial deployment as part of the former Soviet Union’s armed forces, it has been exported for use by the military forces of over fifty other countries. The Mi-24 was designed to carry a crew of 2 to 3 people (pilot, weapons system office and technician) along with either 8 fully armed troops or four medical evacuation stretchers. The general Mi-24 operating statistics are as follows: 1) Top speed of almost 210 mph; 2) Range of about 280 miles and 3) Service ceiling of almost 15,000 feet. Armament options include: 1) Flexible 12.7 mm machine gun; 2) Fixed twin-barrel machine gun; 3) Externally mounted gun pod; 4) Externally mounted sea mines; 5) Various externally mounted bombs and 6) Various externally mounted rockets and rocket launcher pods. This older 132 piece MiL Mi-24 A / D scaled model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a MiL Mi-24 A / D as operated by the former Soviet Air Force; 2) Clear plastic cockpit windows; 3) Detailed primary and tail rotors; 4) Externally mounted bombs and rocket pods; 5) Optional parts to build either a Mi-24 A or Mi-24 D; 6) Recessed panel lines; 7) Painting guide and 8) Illustrated assembly instructions. The box is in Like-New condition. Never started and factory sealed.
