The Mitsubishi A5M, (Allied code name Claude) was a Japanese, single engined, single seat, monoplane fighter that was used by the Imperial Japanese Navy from the late 1930s up through the end of World War II.  It was the first Japanese monoplane aircraft to serve on Imperial Japanese Navy carriers and was the direct predecessor of the more famous Mitsubishi A6M Zero.  The A5M was a very robust aircraft that could sustain battle damage and continue to fly its assigned mission.  The performance characteristics of the A5M included a top speed of about 270 m.p.h., a service ceiling of over 32,000 feet and an effective combat range of over 700 miles.  The A5M4 variant which is the subject of this kit included a more powerful engine, an option of an enclosed cockpit and an expendable fuel tank.  This older, out-of-production scaled Mitsubishi A5M4 model includes: 1) Authentic markings for an aircraft operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy and 2) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition. Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. inventoried.
