The Ki-67 Hiryu Type 4 Heavy Bomber (Allied code name Peggy) was a twin-engined, medium bomber produced by Mitsubishi for use by the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy Air Forces during World War II. Approximately 770 Ki-67 bombers of all variants were built before production ceased at the end of World War II. The Ki-67 carried a crew of between six and eight airmen and was designed to carry a bomb or torpedo load of approximately 2,400 pounds. The operational characteristics of the Ki-67 are as follows: 1) Top speed of just over 330 m.p.h.; 2) Combat range of approximately 2,400 miles and 3) Service ceiling of 31,000 feet. The Ki-67 "Special Long Range Bomber" project variant, which is the subject of this kit, was equipped with a wider wing and extended range externally mounted fuel tanks. In order to reduce overall weight, all guns and turrets were removed with the exception of the tail mounted 20 mm cannon. This highly detail Mitsubishi Ki-67 Type 4 Heavy Bomber Hiryu - (Peggy) "Special Long Range Bomber" model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for an aircraft that was to be used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force on long range bomber missions during World War II; 2) Clear cockpit and fuselage glass areas; 3) Detailed engines; 4) Detailed landing gear; 5) Externally mounted extended range drop tanks; 6) Recessed panel lines; 7) Paint Guide and 8) Illustrated assembly instructions.
