The Mitsubishi Type 1 Rikko "Betty" (G4M) was the most produced World War II Japanese Bomber and saw action on every front from the first day of the Pacific conflict through to V.J. Day. The G4M's long range capabilities made it a "key" weapon during the first year of World War II but as the Allies gradually gained local air superiority, the G4Ms weaknesses including a lack of protective armor and self-sealing fuel tanks became quite evident. In fact, given its propensity to burst into flames when under fire it quickly earned the nickname "One Shot Lighter". Depite its obvious disadvantages later in the war, it still soldiered on as a bomber and was used to carry the new Oka or "Cherry Blossom" kamikaze rocket plane into battle with mixed results. In the first in a series of volumes examining key Japanese aircraft of World War II, this book details the G4M's extensive combet history and lists all the units which operated the bomber. Included in this book are 100 black and white photgraphs and 40 color illustrations. The book is 112 pages and is in like new condition. The author is Osamu Tagaya. Edition published in 2001.
