The Mitsubishi A5M, (Allied code name Claude) was a Japanese, single engined, single seat, monoplane fighter that was used by the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy from the late 1930s up through the end of World War II.  It was the first Japanese monoplane aircraft to serve on Imperial Japanese Navy carriers and was the direct predecessor of the more famous Mitsubishi A6M Zero.  The A5M was a very robust aircraft that could sustain battle damage and continue to fly its assigned mission.  The performance characteristics of the A5M are as follows: 1) Top speed of about 270 m.p.h., 2) Combat range of over 700 miles and 3) Service ceiling of over 32,000 feet.  The A5M2a variant which is the subject of this kit included a more powerful engine and open cockpit.  This new, scaled Mitsubishi A5M2a model produced for export to the European market includes: 1) Authentic markings for an aircraft operated by the Imperial Japanese Army; 2) Clear plastic windscreen; 3) Detailed cockpit; 4) Recessed panel lines and 5) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in mint condition.  Never opened and factory sealed.
