The Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa (Allied code name Oscar) was the most extensively produced Japanese Army Air Force aircraft of World War II.  While its stablemate in the Japanese Navy, the Mitsubishi Zero-Sen is more widely known the Army's Hayabusa was active and deadly during the war.  Its relatively unknown status probably is due to it often being identified incorrectly as a Zero which, from a distance, looks like a Ki-43 Hayabusa.   The Nakajima built Ki-43 Hayabusa was maneuverable and was significant in that it bridged the gap between two generations of fighting airplanes.  The Ki-43 Hayabusa was the first Japanese Army Air Force fighter aircraft to have a retractable main landing gear and was built continuously for 6.5 years by Nakajima until the end of the war in the late summer of 1945.  This older, out-of-production, Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa (Oscar) is molded in olive drab plastic and includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a Ki-43-II variant flown by the 77th Sentai Hombu (Group Headquarters Squadron) operating in 1943; 2) Clear two-piece plastic canopy; 3) Detailed cockpit; 4) Detailed engine with removable cowling; 5) Detailed landing gear; 6) External drop tank; 7) Movable wheels; 8) Pilot figure in flight suit; 9) Recessed panel lines with rivit detail; 10) Painting guide and 11) Illustrated assembly instructions.  Note: the price of this model reflects the fact that it is missing the tiny, clear plastic landing light cover which will have to be "sourced" from the spare parts box.  The box is in very good condition but does have tape on either side of the package.  Never started and 100% complete except as noted with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
