The book Naval Aircraft (1914 - 1939), is the story of naval aircraft from the very beginning up to the outbreak of World War II.  Beginning with Eugene Ely's first flight from the U.S.S. Birmingham in 1910 to the dive-bombers of 1939 designed to rip open a battleship, this book lays out the chronological development of this type of aircraft.  In many ways, this book tells the story of how the once dominant battleship as the mightiest of all capital warships up through World War I was slowly but surely eclipsed by the aircraft carrier on the eve of World War II.  Starting with the first test landings on ships at sea in 1914 purpose built aircraft carriers and specially designed aircraft were beginning to be deployed in 1918.  Between World Wars I and II the aircraft carrier came into its own and in so doing threatened the supremacy of the big-gun ship.  The sections of this book are as follows: 1) The Beginning of Carrier Aviation; 2) Naval Aircraft: The First War; 3) New Power at Sea; 4) Fighters 1918 - 39; 5) Dive / Attack-Bombers: Threat from Above; 6) Torpedo Bombers: Strike from the Surface; 7) Observation / Utility / Trainers: Servicing the Fleet; 8) Armament; 9) Sights; 10) Flotation Gear; 11) Powerplants; 12) Wing Folding and 13) The Carrier Grows-up.  In addition to the text, this book includes the following: 1) 45 vintage black and white photographs; 2) 49 color aircraft illustrations; 3) 9 other color illustrations; 4) 15 black and white line drawings and 5) 1 full aircraft "cut-away" drawing.  This book is 64 pages and is in excellent condition.  The authors are Louis S. Casey and John Batchelor.  Edition published in 1977.
