The Noorduyn Norseman was a pre-World War II Canadian single engine bush plane designed to operate in the remote expanses of Canada.  Prior to World War II, only 18 Norseman had been produced primarily for use by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and by small time commercial operators flying in and out of remote Canadian locations.  With the outbreak of World War II, the Royal Canadian Air Force purchased significant quantities of Norseman's for radio and navigational training while the United States Army Air Force purchased a number of different Norseman variants for use as liaison aircraft capable of operating in and out of unimproved airfields.  The Norseman could be equipped with conventional fixed geared, as well as, with either floats or skis.  The operational performance of the Noorduyn Norseman is as follows: 1) Top speed of about 150 mph; 2) Range of about 932 miles and 3) Service ceiling of approximately 17,000 feet.  By the time production ceased in 1959, just over 900 Norseman of all variants had been manufactured.  As an interesting side-note, bandleader Glenn Miller was in a Noorduyn Norseman when he went missing while flying from England to France on December 15, 1944.  This older Noorduyn Norseman scaled model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for either a civilian Norseman operated by Northway Aviation Ltd, Manitoba, Canada 1974 or a UC-64A Norseman operated by the United States 8th Air Force Service Command, UK August 1944; 2) Clear plastic cockpit and cabin glass areas; 3) Choice of wheels, floats or skies; 4) Simulated fabric covering; 5) Spinning propeller; 6) Painting guide in color and 7) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in like-new condition.  Never opened and factory sealed.
