This kit represents the P-51B variant of the Mustang which was arguably the most famous and effective U.S.A.F. fighter operating in World War II. The P-51B Mustang variant was derived when the P-51A airframe including a larger radiator scoop was mated with a Rolls Royce Merlin engine. P-51Bs began arriving in England in September, 1943 with the first Mustangs being assigned to the 354th fighter group based at Boxtad, England. A total of 3,738 P-51Bs were produced by wars end. This kit includes a detailed cockpit, multi-position canopy panels, boxed in wheel wells, dropped flaps and decals for Shangri-La as flown by Don Gentile. Also included with this kit is an aftermarket P-51 checkerboard main wheel set by True Details and a crystal clear "Malcolm Hood" canopy by Squadron. Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
