The North American A-5 Vigilantee was a high performance, twin jet engined, twin seat advanced carrier-based supersonic bomber designed for the United States Navy to perform the nuclear strike role.  The RA-5C variant, which is the subject of this model, saw extensive service during the Vietnam War as a highly sophisticated reconnaissance aircraft operated off of aircraft carriers.  Of the approximately 160 aircraft of all variants produced, 91 were built as RA-5C with another approximately 43 converted for reconnaissance work after the fact.  The operational characteristics of the RA-5C Vigilantee are as follows: 1) Top speed of just over 1,300 m.p.h.; 2) Combat range of just under 1,300 miles and 3) Service ceiling of approximately 52,000 feet.  This older, out-of-production RA-5C Vigilantee model is molded in brown-gray plastic and includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for an aircraft operated by the United States Navy from the carrier U.S.S. Enterprise; 2) Clear plastic canopy; 3) Detail landing gear; 4) Recessed panel lines; 5) Original glue and 6) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
