The Northrup P-61 "Black Widow" was an American all-metal, twin engined, twin boom night fighter flown by the U.S. Army Air Corp. during the latter stages of World War II. It was notable in that it was the only Allied, purpose built, radar equipped aircraft to serve as a night fighter. While it was used in both the European and Pacific cambat theaters, many more squadrons wer equipped with it in the Pacific combat theater. It was introduced in 1944 and finally retired in 1952 having been replaced by the F-82 F / G Twin Mustang. The "Black Widow" had a crew of 3 which consisted of a pilot, radar operator and gunner. It had a top speed of 318 m.p.h. and an effective combat range of 530 n.m.. This older, out-of-production Northrop "Black Widow" P-61 B kit includes the following features: 1) Movable propellers, wheels, ailerons, elevators and rudders; 2) Optional position landing gear, 3) Optional top turret; 4) 11" completed model wing span; 5) Authentic U.S. Army Air Corp markings and 6) Illustrated assembly instructions. The box is in very good condition. Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
