The movie, Northwest Passage, is a lavish "technicolor" retelling of the French and Indian War heroics. Based on Kenneth Robert's best seller, the central character is Major Robert Rogers the leader of Roger's Rangers who took on one of the most challenging expeditions in military history. This movie was filmed over a twelve week period of location shooting where the actors had to endure bitter cold, raging rivers, swamps and climbing mountains. The movie, Northwest Passage, was one of the first epic color movies to follow the release of Gone With The Wind In 1939. Starring Spencer Tracy, Robert Young and Walter Brennan among others.
