The OH-6 A Cayuse was developed in the late 1960s as a small utility focused military helicopter and was operated by the United States Army in the latter stages of the Vietnam War.  While initially thought to be inadequate for difficult operating conditions, the Cayuse later renamed the “Loach” became a much appreciated reconnaissance helicopter due to its mobility, reliability and versatility.  Some OH-6 A units were even pressed into to service as light helicopter gunships with a .303 caliber machine gun attached to the left side of the aircraft.  The United States Army ordered approximately 100 units of this helicopter type and many more were exported to military forces around the world where the Loach is still in use in its most recent versions.  Aside from military applications, the OH-6 was also produced in small numbers for the civilian aviation market.  The operational characteristics of the OH-6 A Cayuse are as follows: 1) Top speed of 134 mph and 2) Range of 329 miles.  When operating as a light helicopter gunship, the OH-6 A carried a .303 caliber (7.62 mm) machine gun.  This older OH-6 A Cayuse scale helicopter model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings including a sharks mouth for a OH-6 A Cayuse operated by the United States Army during the Vietnam War; 2) Clear plastic cockpit and fuselage “glass areas”; 3) Detailed cockpit that has been partially assembled; 4) Doors can be attached in the closed or open position; 5) Molded in olive drab colored plastic; 6) Recessed panel lines; 7) Separately molded machine; 8) Painting guide in color and 9) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.   Partially started as noted above but otherwise 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
