This postcard depicts a steam locomotive pulling a number of passenger cars through the Royal Gorge in Colorado. The last passenger car is an open observation car and has a number of passengers looking in various directions at the canyon behind them. The legend on the back of this postcard reads: "The Observation Car that is used for the trip through the Royal Gorge is an open car, permitting the tourists a full view of the stupendous precipices, upon the summits of which bands of mountain sheep are often seen. The sky is a mere thread of blue overhead, the Arkansas River dashes triumphantly along, the track and the canon at times seem blocked by the winding of the red granite walls, sparkling with mica, at other times lost in the distance beyond". It is identified by the number 4368. This postcard contains no writing, is free of noticeable stains or marks and is in overall excellent condition with only slight wear on the four corners.
