The movie, Old Santa Fe, centers on a Old West cowboy and his sidekick who are on their way to a dude ranch to enter a horse race when they collide with a sports car driven by the beautiful daughter of the ranch owner.  Later two other well healed big city businessmen show up at the ranch intent on entering the horse race and extorting money from the ranch owner who apparently has a checkered past.  When the horse race is run, the cowboy is knocked off his horse by a wire strong across the road which leads to one of the businessmen winning the race.  As both one of the businessmen and the cowboy vie for the attention of the dude ranch daughter, a stagecoach carrying gold from the local mine to town is robbed and the driver is killed.  The cowboy happens across the scene and is later arrested for actually having committed the crime as he has the gold with him when the sheriff arrives.  With the cowboy in jail, one of the businessmen kills the other and again the cowboy, recently escaped from jail, arrives on the scene to be caught this time by the dude ranch owner.  All seems lost for the cowboy when it is finally determined that he had nothing to do with either murder or the gold heist.  This early Western is sure to appeal to anyone interested in this genre of movie and while the quality of the film is not the best, it is still well worth watching.  Starring Ken Maynard, Gene Autry and George "Gabby" Hayes among others.  Full screen in black and white.  Released in 1934.  Runtime 64 minutes.
