 The book, One Hundred Years of Fiat 1899 - 1999 Products, Faces, Images tells the interesting story of Fiat from its first inception in 1899 up through the celebration of its 100th birthday in 1999.  The intention of the historical celebration and exhibition in Turin, Italy of Fiat's first 100 years was to provide a thought provoking overview of the company's development over the course of the twentieth century, a century of economic, political and social change.  This book, with appropriate illustrations of the most important exhibits was produced as a guide for those visiting the physical facilities highlighting this great event in Turin, Italy.  Overall, the scope of the exhibits and documentation revealed how Fiat became a fundamental, irreplaceable conduit for the advancement and industrialization of Italian society.  After the conclusion Of World War I Italians came to regard Fiat as the "embodiment of a big industrial concern".  To most Italians, Fiat was first and foremost an automobile manufacturer.  It also became known as an efficient organization in which the combination of managerial talent, technological aptitude and human resources came together in a single unit capable of operating in the modern industrial age.  While Fiat through the course of their 100 year history has produced millions of automobiles, it also has manufactured as was needed, aircraft, marine engines, tractors, trucks and trains to meet the needs of the Italians evolving society.  The startling statistics behind Fiat's first 100 years are as follows: 1) Produced 80 million cars, 5 million commercial vehicles, 2.5 million tractors, 400 thousand earthmovers and 20 million diesel engines: 2) Employed 850,000 people and 3) Achieved a turnover of 2 million, billion lire as of 1999.  The main sections of "One Hundred Years of Fiat 1899 - 1999 Products, Faces, Images" are as follows: 1) A century of industrial achievements; 2) Fiat.
