The famous P-51 Mustang is a fighter plane that was miraculously developed in 117 days after an agreement was concluded in April 1940 between the British Purchasing Commission and North American Aviation, Incorporated. While it was first exported to Britain, once America entered World War II, the United States Army Air Corps also flew the early Mustang models. The D variant included lowering the upper part of the rear fuselage in order to give the pilot a better field of view. This variant also included a bubble canopy and a dorsal fin in front of the tail. The P-51 D was powered by a 1,450 h.p. Packard-Merlin engine, had a top speed of 703 Kilometers per hour and carried six .50 caliber machine guns. This P-51 D Mustang model is molded in light gray plastic and includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a P-51 D flown by the United States Army Air Corps in World War II; 2) Clear plastic canopy; 3) Fuel drop-tank and bombs; 4) Detail cockpit; 5) Recessed panel lines; 6) Paint guide and 7) Illustrated assembly instructions. This box is in like-new condition. Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
