Nicknamed "Dragon Ships" by the North Vietnamese, older C-47s played a vital role during the Vietnam war as AC-47 gun-ships. The twin engined C-47s were slow, roomy aircraft that provided platforms for the mounting of three General Electric 6-barrelled "miniguns" each capable of firing 6,000 round per minute. With night time interdiction missions their forte, "Spookys" carried out devastating V. C. attacks and became the American close support terror from the skies. This kit represents a "reissue" of the original 1960s blue box release that came out in the the early 1990s. This PUFF The Magic Dragon model which is once again out-of-production includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a "Spooky" gunship operated by the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War; 2) Clear plastic glass areas; 3) Landing gear that can be mounted in either the open or closed position; 4) Propellers and main wheels that rotate; 5) Molded in "Jungle Green"; 6) Sculptured pilot and co-pilot-gunner; 7) Three detailed General Electric "Mini-guns" and 8) Illustrated assembly instructions. The box is in excellent condition. Never started and factory sealed.
