The movie, Patton, is the story of the larger than life U.S. General who was the only American officer truely feared by the Germans.  George S. Patton was a flamboyant, rebelious military genius who designed his own uniforms, sported ivory-handled revolvers and believed he was a warrior in several past lives.  The story begins with Patton defeating Rommel in North Africa, folowed by the successful Allied landings in Sicily and eventualy leading the American Third Army in its race across Europe on its drive to defeat the Germans.  More than just a war film, however, Patton is an insightful, sensitive and thought provoking character study of this larger than life general who left both controversy and victory in his wake.  This epic drama was noted for its realistic battle sceens and was hailed as "one of the most remarkable of its type ever made".  Starring George C. Scott and Karl Malden among others.  Full screen and in color.  Released in 1970.  Runtime 171 minutes.
