The HUP-1 was a twin-rotor utility helicopter developed by the Piasecki company beginning in 1948. The first three test helicopters arrived at the test center for evaluation in the spring of 1949.  In all, approximately 30 HUP-1 helicopters were produced before production cut-over to the HUP 2 series which had been under development concurrently with the HUP 1.  The HUP 2  incorporated a more powerful engine and an autopilot feature.  The United States Navy purchased approximately 170 HUP 2s with about 15 ultimately being transferred to the French Navy.  This Piasecki HUP 1 / Hup 2 includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for two different 1950s vintage United States Navy aircraft; 2) Cabin interior; 3) Clear plastic cockpit and fuselage glass areas; 4) Detailed engines; 5) Recessed panel lines; 6) Seperate fuselage door and 7) Illusttrated assembly instructions.   The box is in mint condition.  Never started and factory sealed.
