The Polikarpov I-16 was a single radial engine single seat cantilever-winged monoplane fighter was introduced into U.S.S.R. squadrons beginning in 1934.  The Type 24 variant included landing flaps, a second cockpit door on the starboard side and the addition of a tail wheel.  The Polikarpov I-16 Type 24 was powered by a 1,100 horsepower engine and had the following operational characteristics: 1) Top speed of almost 330 mph; 2) Range of about 435 miles and 3) Service ceiling of just under 32,000 feet.  The I-16 Type 24 fighter was armed with two fixed 7.62 mm machine guns, two fixed 20 mm cannon and could carry eight unguided rockets or a 1,100 pound bomb load.  In addition to the U.S.S.R., the I-16 Type 24 was flown by the air forces of China, Finland, Nazi Germany, the Spanish Republic and the Spanish State.  This 43 piece Polikarpov I-16 Type 24 'U.S.S.R.' scaled model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for several different I-16 Type 24's as flown by the Soviet Air Force; 2) Clear plastic windscreen; 3) Detailed cockpit; 4) Detailed landing gear; 5) Recessed panel lines; 6) Painting guide and 7) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in new condition.  Never started and factory sealed.
