The movie, Pony Soldier is based on a true story and centers on a Canadian Royal Mountie who in 1876 is sent on a dangerous mission into the western United States to singlehandedly lead a group of Cree Indians back to their reservation in Canada.  Once in the camp, the mountie learns that the Crees are holding a white girl and a white escaped convict hostage.  The mountie's mission seems doomed but due to a change in circumstances brought on by the Indians witnessing a weather related event, the quick thinking police officer ends-up using it to convince the chief that the "great white Queen Victoria" is sending a sign that she wants the hostages released and the Indians to move back to their reservation.  As a result of this bonding event and the mountie's offering to provide food for the Indians, the chief agrees to let the hostages go free and to bring his people back to the reservation.  All seems well until one of the younger warriors kidnaps the girl so that she can be his brother's wife.  The chief and mountie then work together to rescue the white girl.  This is a interesting movie in that it depicts the west from the perspective of the Canadian Royal Mounties and their role in taming it.  Starring Tyrone Power, Cameron Mitchell and Thomas Gomez among others.  Full screen in color.  Released in 1952.  Runtime 81 minutes.
