The movie, Pride And Prejudice (200th Anniversary Edition), is a film based on Jane Austin's superb romantic comedy novel written over 200 years ago.  The timeless themes of love and marriage captured in the novel Pride And Prejudice have sold over 20 million copies and its continued popularity has meant that it has never been out-of-print.  This movie tells the story of the lively and rebellious Elizabeth Bennet, one of five unmarried daughters living in the countryside of 19th century England.  It is an era in time where obtaining an advantageous marrriage is a women's sole pursuit.  Elizabeth's very independent manner therefore threatens her family's economic futre.  One of the central questions in the story centers on whether or not Elizabeth's romantic sparring with the mysterious and arrogant Darcy will end in misfortune or will love's true nature win-out after all is said and done.  In the end, this film adaptation is a stunning production that captures the beauty of the English countryside with all its stately manners along with lavish customs and an "exquisite" soundtrack from noted composer Carl Davis.  Starring Colin Firth, Jennifer Ehle and Alison Steadman among others.  Full screen in color.  Released in 1995.  Runtime 300 minutes.
