The movie, Raise The Titanic, tells the story of an exciting and chilling underwater race to salvage the Titanic in order to secure a cargo of material that could be used to make the United States impregnable to atomic attack.  This movie is an action packed drama based on the Clive Cussler novel of the same name.  The main problem facing the salvaging of this great ocean liner is the fact that it sank in waters to deep for divers.  The only possibility of recovering the secret war material is to somehow Raise The Titanic.  This herculean project must be planned and executed in absolute secrecy which complicates the task.  In addition, the salvagers need to invent and use technology never before tried in rasing a ship of this size located as it is over three miles below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean.  The monumental task of raising the Titanic is laced with intrigue and the stories of the people and the forces working against them.  This fictionalized account of rasing the Titanic was produced years before the actual discovery of this sunken ocean liner revealed that it had split into two large sections thus making the rasing of such a ship all but impossible.  Starring Jason Robards, Richard Jordan and Ann Archer among others.  Full screen in color.  Release in 1980.  Runtime 114 minutes.
