The Republic RF-84 F Thunderflash was the swept-wing photo-reconnaissance version of the straight wing F-84 Thunderjet which was originally introduced in the United States Air Force in 1947. Approximately 715 RF-84 F Thunderflashs were produced before their primary mission was taken over with a photo reconnaissance version of the Voodoo designated RF-101. While a number of F-84s have survive to this day in museums, only one RF-84 F is known to exist and it is located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The operational characteristics of the F-84 generally are as follows: 1) Top speed of just over 620 m.p.h.; 2) Combat range of 1,000 miles and 3) Service Ceiling of approximately 41,000 feet. The armament consisted of six .50 caliber machine guns and hardpoints to carry bombs, rockets or a reconnaissance pod. This hard-to-find kit of the Republic RF-84 F Thunderflash is molded in gray plastic and includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for RF-84 Fs operated by the Belgian, French and Norwegian Air Forces; 2) Center line mounted photographic pod; 3) Clear plastic canopy; 4) Detail landing gear; 5) Recessed panel lines with rivet detail; 6) Paint guide and 7) Illustrated instructions. Note: the price of this kit reflects the fact that there is a tape tear on the upper edge of the top and side of the package. The box is in good condition. Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
