The book, Rolls-Royce, chronicles the history of the ultra high-end Rolls-Royce automobile.  This book lays out this history by first highlighting the historic meeting in 1904 of a wealthy aristocrat named the Hon Charles Stewart Rolls and Henry Royce, an engineer.  This meeting lead to the formation of Rolls-Royce which began production in 1907 of the Silver Ghost.  Rolls subsequently died in a 1910 airplane crash while Henry Royce succumbed to the stress of running this company alone and retired from day-to-day operations in 1912.  Despite these setbacks the mold was cast and the company was firmly on the road to greatness.  During World War I the company switched production to building staff cars, supply trucks and even an armored car.  Later, the "Ghost" was followed by the introduction of the Phantom 1 and its successors.  Over the years, the company prospered and grew, acquiring the Bentley company.  During World War II the company produced aircraft power plants for the American North American P-51 Mustang, as well as, the British Hawker Hurricane and the Supermarine Spitfire.  While the Phantom series of cars remained in production evolving in series, the company introduced the Wraith, Dawn and Cloud.  By 1955, the company had launched the Silver Cloud which was followed by the Silver Shadow which featured for the first time integral chassis construction.  While the days of hand-built Rolls-Royce cars were over, the adherence to the highest standard of quality continued.  During the 1970s the company launched the Corniche which was followed by the release of the Silver Spirit in 1980 and later the Bentley Mulsanne Turbo which first appeared in 1982.  The major sections of "Rolls-Royce" are as follows: 1) A fateful meeting; 2) The Silver Ghost; 3) The Phantoms; 4) Small is beautiful - the 20 horsepower models; 5) Made in the U.S.A.; 6) Wraith, Dawn and Cloud; 7) Silver Shadow and Silver Spirit; 8) Appendix; 9) Index and 10) Acknowledgments.  In addition to an informative narrative, this book includes the following features: 1) Approximately 32 black and white vintage photographs and 2) About 84 contemporary color photographs.  This book is 94 pages and is in excellent condition.  The author is G. N. Georgano.  Edition published in 1983.
