The SE 313 Aloutte II is a single turbine engine powered light helicopter that was designed and manufactured by the French companies Sud Aviation and later Aerospatiale.  The SE 313 Alouette II made its first flight in 1953 and by 1957  was beginning to be introduced into the French Army.  The SE 313 Aloutte II was primarily designed for the following military roles: 1) Air-sea rescue; 2) Fire support capable of launching both anti-tank missiles & homing torpedoes; 3) Liaison duties; 4) Observation; 5) Photography and 6) Pilot training.  As a civilian helicopter, the SA 313 Alouette II was used for: 1) Crop dusting; 2) Flying crane and 3) Medical evacuation.  Approximately 1,300 SA 313 and SA 318 Alouette II helicopters were produced between 1956 and 1975.  In addition to being operated by the French Army, the Alouette II was exported to the armed forces of over 20 other countries.  The Alouette II carried one pilot and up to four passengers.  The general operating characteristics of the Alouette II are as follows: 1) Top speed of about 115 mph; 2) Range of approximately 350 miles and 3) Service ceiling of just over 7,500 feet.  This older 80 piece SE 313 AlouetteII scaled model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a SE 313 Alouette II as operated by the French Army; 2) Clear plastic cockpit windows; 3) Detailed turbine engine; 4) Detailed primary and tail rotors; 5) Molded in colored plastic and 6) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in Like-New condition.  Never started and factory sealed.
