The Sopwith F.1 Camel was the first British aircraft to carry twin Vickers machine guns. The Sopwith Camel's fuselage was humped in order to accomodate the Vickers machine guns. It was this "humped" feature that caused many to pick the nickname of "Camel" for this World War I era fighter. Over 5,000 Sopwith F. 1 Camels were built and they were credited with the destruction of over 1,250 enemy aircraft. This fast, manuverable aircraft could be tricky to fly and required pilots to be aware of all the fine points of flying the Sopwith F.1. The Sopwith F.1 Camel is 18 feet long 6 inches, has a wingspan of 28 feet and is 8 feet 6 inches high. The Sopwith F.1 Camel had a top speed of 121 m.p.h. at 10,000 feet. This older, already built Grumman F4F Wildcat model was part of the Bachman "Mini-Planes" series available for sale in the late 1960s up through the 1970s. This Sopwith F. 1 Camel model features the following: 1) Hand decorated; 2) Moving parts and 3) Super detailed. The box is in very good condition. Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
