The Sopwith Pup or Scout as it was officially known gained a reputation among the pilots that flew this airplane for its fine handling qualities which allowed it to hold its own during the 1916 - 1917 air battles over the Western Front.  Early deliveries of this World War I fighter went to the Royal Naval Air Service and the famous No. 8 Squadron or "Naval Eight" as it eventually came to be known.  Five Royal Flying Corps squadrons flew the Pups as did eight Royal Naval Air Service squadrons during World War I.  Approximately 1,770 Pups were built before production ceased and a number survived World War I to fly under civilian registration into the 1920s.  The Pup had a maximum speed at 10,000 feet of 104.5 m.p.h. and was armed with one fixed .303 Vickers machine gun.  This Sopwith Pup kit includes authentic markings for the following two aircarft: 1) 4 Squadron Royal Naval Air Service, 1917 and 2) "B" Flight, 46 Squadron, Royal Flying Corps, 1917.  Also included in this kit is a clear display base and illustrated assembly instructions.  The package is in very good condition with a slight tear in the upper right-hand corner.  Never started and factory sealed.
