This postcard depicts a steam powered locomotive pulling at least six passenger cars on its California run between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The train is traveling in the center of the postcard with palm trees and wild flowers on the right side and the Pacific Ocean on the left side all set against a pastel colored sky. The legend on the back of this postcard reads: 'The brightly colored, orange and red, Million Dollar Southern Pacific "Daylight" speeds daily between San Francisco and Los Angeles -- the route of the Missions. No rail trip anywhere, unfolds more thrilling scenery -- following the very edge of the Pacific Ocean for more than a hundred miles'. This postcard is identified by the number OB-H679 and includes writing on the back. The postmark is as follows: Los Angeles R. P. O., TR 5 and was stamped on March 27, 1947. It is free of noticeable stains or marks and is in overall very good condition with wear evident on the four corners.
