The book Spitfire Classic Aircraft No.1: Their History And How To Model Them was published by Airfix specifically to assist the modeller with their efforts in super-detailing the Airfix 1/24th scale Supermarine Spitfire.  The chapters included in this book are as follows: 1) Forebears Of The Spitfire; 2) The Spitfire Evolves; 3) Spitfire I And II; 4) The Spitfire V; 5) Spitfire Developments; 6) The Spitfire In Detail; 7) The Rolls-Royce Merlin Engine; 8) Detailing The Airfix Spitfire; 9) Conversions To Other Marks and 10) Painting And Display.  Included in this book are many original black and White photographs, cutaways, cross sectional drawings, plans and sketches.  This book is 104 pages and is in very good condition with a tight spine and some light yellowing of the pages.  The authors are Roy Cross and Gerald Scarborough with Robin M. Algar (Illustrator).  Edition published in 1971.
