The Supermarine Spitfire is arguably the most famous British fighter to be flown by the R.A.F. during World War II. It helped save the day during the Battle Of Britain and continued to evolve throughout the war. To many, the Spitfire is the very embodiment of what a classic propeller drvien fighter should look and sound like. The Rolls-Royce Merlin and later Griffin engines produced a distinctive sound that is still pleasing to the ears. The book Spitfire: The Legend Lives On is a follow-up work to the earlier publication titled "Spitfire: A Living Legend". The focus of the book is the documentation thorugh photographs, illustrations and text the continued effort by private owners and museums to restore to airworthiness additional examples of the famed Spitfire. The book represents a comprehensive accounting of the surviving airworthy examples of the Spitfire which have recently been restored and those that have been painted in different squadron markings and camouflage colors. This book is 128 pages and is in very good condition. The author is Jeremy Flack. Edition published in 1992.
