The Sukhoi Su-27 (N.A.T.O. code name "Flanker") is a twin engined jet, single seat air superiority fighter manufactured initially by the former Soviet Union by the Sukhoi Design Bureau.  It was developed as a direct response to newer American jet aircraft designs such as the F-14 Tomcat, F-15 Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon and the F-18 Hornet.  Characteristics of this jet interceptor include long range capabilities, heavy armament and high agility.  The "Flanker" made its first flight in 1977 and to date almost 700 have been produced for use by the Russian, Chinese, Ukrainian and Indian Air Forces respectively.  The "Flanker's" performance statistics are as follows: 1) Top speed is over 1,500 m.p.h.; 2) Maximum range of almost 2,100 at altitude and 3) Maximim service ceiling of almost 61,000.  It is armed with one 30 mm cannon and a wide variety of externally mounted bombs and missles. This scaled model of the Sukhoi Su-27 "Flanker" is molded in light gray plastic and includes the following: 1) Authentic markings for an aircraft operated by the Soviet Air Force; 2) External missles and 3) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.   Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
