The first edition book, Supermarine Aircraft Since 1909 represents the definitive work related to the extensive design and development history of the Brisish firm Supermarine Aircraft.  "Supermarine Aircraft Since 1909" follows the many aircraft designed and produced by this legendary British aircraft manufacturer from 1909 up through the late 1970s.  While most are familiar with the famous Supermarine Spitfire of World War II era Battle of Britain fame, many would be surprised with the shear breadth of the many aircraft conceived and produced by this firm.  After the initial design of a number of Pemberton Billing aircraft, Supermarine embarked on a series of single-engine biplane amphibians and flying boats.  By the mid 1920s, Supermarine Aircraft's R.J. Mitchell was designing and manufacturing streamlined floatplanes that were piloted to winning finishes in a number of Schneider Trophy races in the latter part of this decade.  Supermarine Aircraft also produced an number of different multi-engine commercial flying boats designs during the 1930s.  During the mid 1930s R.J. Mitchell used data compiled from the aircraft flown in the earlier Schneider Trophy races to design the now legendary Spitfire and its naval cousin the Seafire.  After World War II Supermarine Aircraft played a major role in the development of jet aircraft for both the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy.  The major sections of "Supermarine Aircraft Since 1909" are as follows: 1) Foreword by Sir Peter Masefield; 2) Acknowledgements; 3) Introduction; 4) Pemberton Billing; 5) The A.D. Designs; 6) The Channels; 7) Commercial Amphibian; 8) Sea Eagle; 9) Sea King; 10) Schneider Sea Lions; 11) Seal And Seagulls; 12) Scarab And Sheldrake; 13) Scylla And Swan; 14) Southhampton; 15) Seamew; 16) Nanok, Solent And Southhampton X; 17) Air Yacht; 18) Scapa and Stranraer; 19) Seagull V And Walrus; 20) Sea Otter; 21) Type 322 S. 24/27 Dumbo; 22) Seagull ASR.I; 23) Schneider S Series; 24) Type 224 F.7/30; 25) Spitfire; 26) Seafire; 27) Spitefull And Seafang; 28) Attacker; 29) Swift And Type 545; 30) Scimitar; 31) Types 559 And 571; 32) Sparrow; 33) Type 179 'Giant'; 34) Types 316-318 B.12/36 Bomber; 35) Some Supermarine Design Projects; 36) Spitfire Production Dispersal; 37) Appendix I - Supermarine Type List; 38) Appendix II - Production; 39) Appendix III - Supermarine Class B Registrations and 40) Indexes.  In addition to an informative narrative, "Supermarine Aircraft Since 1909" includes the following features: 1) Approximately 303 black and white vintage photographs and 2) About 72 black and white illustrations.  "Supermarine Aircraft Since 1909" is sure to please any aviation enthusiast or modeler interested in the storied history of the Supermarine Aircraft Company.  This book is 400 pages and is in excellent condition.  The authors are C.F. Andrews and E.B. Morgan.  Edition published in 1981.
