Coming from a large faniliy of World War II era Spitfires developed from the Supermarine factory, H.F. Mk VI was the special high altitutde fighter model built to the basic Mk. VB airframe. It was given extended wings and an airtight pressurized cabin and powered by a new engine for very high altitude flight. The H.F. Mk. VI was powered by either a Rolls-Royce Merlin 47 engine with a special super charger or by the 1,415 h.p., twelve-cylinder Merlin 49 liquid-cooled V type engine driving a four bladed propeller. This fighter could reach speeds of 586 km/h and carried four 7.7 mm machine guns and two 20 mm cannons. This Supermarine Spitfire Mk. VI (Royal Air Force Fighter) kit includes the following: 1) Authentic markings for a Spitfire VI flown by the Royal Air Force suring World War II; 2) Beautiful box art; 3) Clear plastic canopy; 4) Detailed cockpit; 5) Detailed landing gear; 6) Highly detail injection molded parts; 7) Recessed panel lines; 8) Painting guide and 9) Illustrated assembly instructions. Also included in this package is a set of Spitfire Mk. I - IX main landing gear wheels. Note: the price of this kit is reflective of the fact that it is missing a portion of the canopy. The box is in excellent condition. Never started and 100% complete except as noted above with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
